The BLS for Healthcare Providers is designed for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. This course is often required by many hospitals or schools related to the medical field. The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. Individuals such as MD, EMT PA Nurses and all health-related students are required to be certified in BLS. Although this first aid, CPR, and AED training is designed for healthcare providers, the general public is also welcomed to take the course.
The BLS course covers:
____________________________________________________________________________________________
- adult and pediatric CPR
- two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask
- foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)
- automated external defibrillation (includes child AED update)
- special resuscitation situations
- other cardiopulmonary emergencies
- stroke and cardiac arrest
The BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.
